Discover STEM at Middlesex University 

Join us for our annual STEM Festival showcase event at North London’s outstanding campus on 12th March to celebrate British Science Week at Middlesex University. 

With our special guest and keynote speaker the Human Factors Engineer and sustainability expert, Laura Hoang. Laura will be taking us on a journey from ‘Cockpits to Clean Energy – the Power of Engineering Careers’. Guiding us through how her science knowledge has supported her career and explain exactly what systems and human factors engineering really means! Laura currently works for Amentum, a global leader in advanced engineering and innovative technology solutions. She is also a trustee and co-chair of SheCanEngineer. 

This event highlights the breadth of STEM subjects and careers available to young people, including: 

• ‘Discover the life beneath our feet’ with our Biodiversity and Conservation research group and explore the links to climate change.
• Explore the life saving technology being developed for premature babies neonatal lung function with our Bio Physics and Bio Engineering Research Group
• Discover Micro Beasts and master the art of ‘Fridge Feng Sui’ with our Biology and Environmental Sciences Dept
• Explore the blue print of DNA analysis and compete to build your own molecules with our Bio Medical and Healthcare Sciences Dept
• Test your max strength and become the ‘strongest’ visitor on site with our Sports Science Dept
• Robots rule! Join our Computer Science dept to try out our robots with attitude. Or alternatively join Bertie for a selfie with our Robotics Team
• Calling all thrill seekers join our Design Engineering Dept on our virtual rollercoaster but warning! You may not be sitting comfortably!
• Explore the POWER of your mind with our Psychology team – can you control your thoughts to complete a mission?
• Is there life beyond our worlds? Join our Mathematics Dept to design your future home in space and beyond.

Join us on Wednesday 12 March, for an inspiring celebration of British Science Week as the Middlesex University STEM Festival makes its exciting return. This interactive event highlights the diverse range of STEM subjects and career opportunities available to young people. Students are invited to attend between 10am and 3pm, while the community can join us from 5pm to 7pm. Book your place now!
