Research activities

Kalpana's broad research interests are in Constitutional Law and Administrative Law, and on investigating the divide between public and private law. Her DPhil research explored the possibility of applying private law principles in judicial review to enhance the protection of individual interests and the control of public power.

  • Biography

    Kalpana is a Senior Lecturer in Law and the LLM Programme Coordinator at Middlesex University, Mauritius. Prior to joining Middlesex in 2022, she completed her DPhil in Law, at Pembroke College, University of Oxford. She taught at Lady Margaret Hall and Pembroke College, University of Oxford for a number of years while conducting her doctoral research. Kalpana also holds a BA in Jurisprudence and a Bachelor in Civil Law (BCL) from Lady Margaret Hall, University of Oxford. Kalpana was called to the Malaysian Bar in 2014 and practised as a lawyer in a leading Malaysian law firm before undertaking her doctoral studies in Law.
