Research activities

My research interests span both physiology and performance analysis.

Within physiology my research interests include: thermoregulation, exercise in the heat, exercise in protective clothing, physiological responses/demands of sports, short term heat acclimation in ageing population and physiological responses to disability sport.

Within performance analysis my research interests include: key performance indicators within team sports with a particular interest in netball, specific technical/tactical elements within team sports for example: what defines successful centre passes in netball, and developing tools that can be used to analyse team sports.

Current Teaching

I am module leader for Level 5 Applied Performance Analysis, Level 6 Dissertation, Level 6 Advanced Physiology. I am also part of the teaching team for Level 4 and 5 physiology modules, and Level 5 research methods. I also conducting teaching on the MSc. Sport Performance Analysis. I also supervise both undergraduate and postgraduate students (both MSc and PhD).

Biography

I studied my undergraduate (BSc. Sport and Exercise Science) and completed my MSc. Exercise Physiology at Loughborough University. Following this I was a technical officer at University of Hertfordshire before starting my PhD there. In 2019 I became an Associate Lecturer in Sport and Exercise Science at Middlesex University and completed my PhD titled Physiological and Thermoregulatory demands of Epée Fencing in 2022. In 2023 I was awarded the BASES Prof Edward Winter Early Career Researcher Award.
