Research activities

Interests lie in materials chemistry; primarily metal phosphonates but also a general interest in inorganic materials. Research focus is the synthesis and characterisation (chemical and structural) of new materials for applications in photophysics (photo- or electroluminescence) and anti bacterial activity.

Published around 60 peer reviewed papers, two book chapters and generated around £3 million in external funding from EPSRC, Marie Curie (EU), British Council, Technology Strategy Board (KTP) and the Royal Society of Chemistry among others.
