Accounting & Finance Department launched successful campaign to create awareness of the qualification on campus

Middlesex University has won a prestigious award for its efforts to promote a professional accountancy qualification on campus.

The MDX Accounting & Finance Department has been awarded a CIMA Campus Culture Excellence Award (Global Champion).

It recognises academics, faculties and student bodies which have launched successful campaigns to create awareness and promote CIMA’s CGMA Professional Qualification within their campuses.

The accolade was announced at the AICPA & CIMA Excellence Awards virtual ceremony on Friday.

This event honours educational institutions and individuals across the globe who work tirelessly to support candidates through their journey towards becoming Chartered Global Management Accountants (CGMA designation holders) and shape the future of the global accounting and finance profession.

Fatima Annan-Diab, Academic Dean, Business and Law at Middlesex University, said: “This is fantastic news for the accounting & finance department. The award is a testament to all their hard work and commitment in supporting our students.”

Andrew Harding, FCMA, CGMA, Chief Executive – Management Accounting at the Association of International Certified Professionals Accountants, representing AICPA & CIMA, said: “We are delighted to celebrate the achievements of our academic partners, tuition providers and young accounting talents for the third year running.

"Our award winners and nominees should be an inspiration to us all to further our efforts to grow, nurture and empower future accounting, finance and business leaders across the globe.

"Congratulations to all of you on your success, and for getting the recognition you deserve.”

More than 650 applications and nominations from educational institutions and individuals were submitted this year for consideration in four categories Teaching Excellence Award, Research Excellence Award, Campus Culture Excellence Award and Employability Excellence Award.

The Association of International Certified Professional Accountants, representing AICPA & CIMA, advances the global accounting and finance profession through its work on behalf of 689,000 AICPA and CIMA members, candidates and engaged professionals in 196 countries and territories.
