Ready for anything

To get you ready for university, we've developed activities, talks, and webinars to help ensure that when you start at MDX you're ready for anything. Find out more on our Ready for Anything page.

Your MDX account

Ahead of enrolment, you'll be given your own MDX account, a password protected section where you can access information for enrolment, paying your fees, accessing learning materials and further academic or welfare support.

The username is your university email address (e.g. JK123@live.mdx.ac.uk) followed by your password. Your IT User ID is also provided on the back of their Student ID Card e.g.: JK123

Your password will be sent in a separate email shortly after you receive your User ID. You can change it after you've first logged on.

FAQs

FAQs

If you didn't receive your username or password via email from us, please contact UniHelp online through their online ticketing system, live chat or face-to-face on campus. You can also call us on 020 8411 6060 (UK), 0044 208 411 6060 (International), and we will provide new login details.

First, set up 2 Factor Authentication (2FA) for security reasons. If you have trouble doing this, check out the step-by-step guidance.

Steps to successful login:

  • Log in to MyMDX using your username and password
  • Your username (your university email address (e.g. JK123@live.mdx.ac.uk)) and password would have been sent in two separate emails – check your junk/spam mailbox if you cannot find this
  • You can change your password after you've first logged on
  • Select the ‘Enrolment’ tile.

Here you will find information about enrolment and be able to enrol online – MyMDX will then confirm that you have successfully enrolled.

Due to an authenticator error, some NHS students are unable to enrol using the provided MDX user ID and password if they already use Outlook and Authenticator to access NHS emails.

To enrol if this applies to you, please follow these steps (use a tablet/laptop rather than mobile device):

  • Download Chrome, Firefox or Edge.  Although unsupported, you can use Safari to sign into MyMDX
  • Open a new private (incognito) window (Windows: Ctrl + Shift + n Apple: Shift + ⌘ + N).

Access MyMDX

  • Enter your university email address i.e. (JK123@live.mdx.ac.uk)
  • Enter your password (provided in a separate email)
  • Let your module leader know if you’re having problems.

Once you have your login details and before teaching starts, these will be available on the My Learning programme page, and module handbooks on the specific module pages.

It’s essential you attend your online Programme Induction so you can get information about your course, meet your tutor(s) and fellow course mates.

You can find the start date of your specific programme induction within MyMDX. Your programme induction information is subject to change, so please double-check details closer to your arrival date.

You can access your timetable once you've enrolled via MyMDX through either your calendar (mobile app) or timetable tile (desktop).

For programmes that run-in specialist spaces, the timetable may not be available on MyMDX. For these programmes teaching timetables are normally provided by the programme teams during Welcome and Programme talks and/or made available on MyLearning.

If you have just enrolled and are unable to view your timetable prior to teaching, please contact UniHelp or visit the Welcome Help Desk in the Quad.

There are many social activities on offer which you can attend, which you can explore on MyMDX. There will also be opportunities for you to get involved in the community groups established by the SU which include international, mature and commuter students.

You can also join our Unibuddy community to meet your peers ahead of arriving on campus!

International orientation

International orientation

Coming to the UK to study is an exciting time but can also feel overwhelming.

To help you settle in and ensure you have everything you need our International orientation activity supports international students from your arrival to ensure you have a great start to your student life, and it’s free - all you need to do is register for the activities.

We'll guide you through the important information you need to get going, including finding out about the different support services available to you, getting you familiar with the University, and helping you make friends!

Before you come to the UK, you need the correct visa to study. Start your visa application when you have received an offer from us.

We encourage you to both check the latest travel advice and read through the advice on getting from your arrival destination to your accommodation before you travel to the UK.

Student Route visa

Use the eGates if you’re an international student from EU/EEA or Australia, Canada, Japan, New Zealand, Singapore, South Korea and the United States of America and are studying for longer than six months and have a Student Route visa (vignette) in your passport or student route biometric residence permit. However, you must prove that you entered the UK within the validity of your visa (vignette).

If you enter the UK through eGates before the start date the Student Route visa (vignette), you will have a visitor leave and not Student Route visa. In line with Home Office regulations, you’ll have to leave the UK and re-enter on or after the start date of your Student Route visa (vignette) to continue your studies.

Here’s an example of a vignette you will receive following a successful Student Route visa application - the issue and expiry date are in the top right corner.

As part of your Middlesex induction, most students need to go through an ID check process which gets you your student ID card, where you’ll need to provide items including your passport, Student Route visa (vignette) and UK entry evidence.

You need to provide evidence that you travelled/entered the UK within the last six months if you want to rent a property from a letting agent or private landlord, or intend to rent a room (lodger) from a private landlord or a host family for more than three months.

Acceptable evidence of entry to the UK may include a boarding card, ticket or booking confirmation for travel to the UK.

We’ve developed a detailed checklist for you to ensure your arrival and first days and weeks with MDX are as great as they can be.

We encourage you to both check the latest travel advice and read through the advice on getting from your arrival destination to your accommodation before you travel to the UK.

Share codes for EU Students not holding physical visa documents

EU nationals who apply for visas using the 'EU Exit: ID Document Check' app or 'UK Immigration: ID Check' app will not receive a visa in their passport or BRP card but instead are granted a digital status which can be proved by getting a Share code.

International Student Advice Team

The International Student Advice Team are your first point of call for international student enquiries. You can find more information about how to contact the team within MyMDX. If you need support, you can contact the team through their online ticketing system or email intadvice@mdx.ac.uk. You can also call the team on 020 8411 4507.

Accommodation

Getting the right accommodation can really make you feel at home when you arrive in London. Choose between living in halls of residence, renting locally or living at home and commuting to campus. We'll help you find the option that's right for you.
