DBS checks for staff
A DBS check is a background check for any criminal convictions and/or cautions an individual may have. This check is undertaken by the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) (previously known as Criminal Records Bureau (CRB)).
Why do I need to do a DBS Check?
- It has been identified that regulated activity will be taking place in a job role that you are applying for or are already employed in.
- It may also be required due to changes in your current job role which did not originally require a DBS Check. For safeguarding purposes a DBS Check will be requested.
- If you have been requested to undertake a DBS Check, it is essential that you undertake this as soon as possible.
- The information displayed on a DBS Certificate will establish your suitability for commencing or continuing your employment role at Middlesex University.
The documents you need
You need to have 3 valid ID documents which need to collectively confirm:
- Your current legal name
- Your date of birth
- Your current address
Please check the acceptable ID documents list - split by nationality.
Only original documents can be accepted for the identity check. Photocopies, scanned copies, photos, printouts or screenshots of documents taken from online, such as online banking, online utility accounts, etc. will not be accepted.
Please make sure the ID documents you have are valid, in date and confirm your full legal name, date of birth and current address.
